Stuff and Nonsense - 22 Jul 17
Well, this week went by pretty nicely… More doctor’s appointments (joy), and more of the same… Yeah, you’re getting better, but it’s slow; yeah, the damage done over here is still there, and it’s not healing, just take it easy… Whatever… I’m getting used to slowing down a bit, which is good for the beer and cookie industries (and very bad for my waistline)… But I shall prevail…
Let’s see what’s going on in the REST of the world…
In Local News…
They’re gonna build a new NYPD precinct in Queens!
The legal age to get married is now 17 in NY State…
The subways are a mess here in NYC… And Gov. Cuomo and Mayor DeBlasio are fighting over who’s responsible for funding the fixes!
Elsewhere in the Nation…
Sen. John McCain was diagnosed with brain cancer!
The Republican Health Care plan fell apart!
The USS Gerald R. Ford was unveiled!
The Justice Dept. just reversed the Civil Forfeiture laws, allowing seizure of private property, without a crime! This, guys and gals, is some bullshit… Under these laws, you can be pulled over, searched, and any large sums of money (for example) can be seized, until YOU prove it “didn’t come from criminal activity”… And even then, part of your agreement to get your money back includes promising NOT to sue the living shite out of the Agency to seized your money…
O.J. Simpson will be paroled, maybe as early as Oct… Dumbass, you shouldn’t have been there in the first place!
Elsewhere on the Planet (and Beyond)…
An American citizen was convicted of spying in Iran, and sentenced to 10 years in prison
S. Korea is trying to open talks with N. Korea… That little fart must be dancing in his pajamas!
Research on the ISS still goes on… And they’re learning some great things!
The US will ban citizens from travelling to N. Korea! We needed a law for this??
Some stories that just caught my eye this week…
There will be a female “Dr. Who”…
Stan Lee got the “Disney Honors Award”… And why not the Presidential Medal of Freedom? He’s done more than Ellen DeGeneres… Or Marlo Thomas!!
And (finally) got honored at Graumman’s Chinese Theater! About damn time!!
The woman who claimed she was pregnant at her OH gender-reveal party wasn’t pregnant… The plot thickens!
The BBC is going to publish the salaries of all on-air talent who make more than 150,000 Pounds per year!
A man was slashed in the face in Times Square for singing too loudly!
Scientists managed to store a film clip in a living cell… So now, you can use the human body for memory storage!
Some interesting people passed away this week…
Actor Martin Landau (“Mission Impossible”) died…
Director George A. Romero (“Night of the Living Dead”) died…
Actor Harvey Atkins (“Meatballs”) died…
Singer Chester Bennington (“Linkin Park”) died…
Mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani died…
Well, that’s the way the week went… We’ve got some great things to share this week, like a bunch of great short films, like “The Adventures of Nunchuck Larry”, and “Eddie” are standouts, some history, like the “London Killer Smog of 1952”… A new “Thug Notes”, and our pal Roger is back “If Junk Food Ads were Honest”, a tour of Helsinki, card-throwing trick shots, and lots more… As usual, a huge thanx to everyone who sent me things (or the ideas for things)… You make this all worthwhile!
